Rye's Numi Salon Offers Hottest Haircut In Westchester (Literally)

RYE, N.Y. -- Rye's NUMI Nuriel Abramov Salon is heating things up with "hot scissors," a European invention that utilizes heated blades with manual temperature control to give women -- and men -- a long lasting cut.

According to Founder/Creative Director Nuriel Abramov, NUMI is the first salon in Westchester to feature this new technology, known as the Jaguar TC ThermoCut System.

"The Louis Licari salon in New York City started using the hot tool in 2013, which is where NUMI's senior stylist, Igor [Musayev] first used the shears," said Abramov. "He has since brought this trend to Westchester all the way from Fifth Avenue. This unique and individual stylist brings the word 'hot' to a whole other level."

Unlike a regular haircut, which opens the hair cuticle, leaving strands more jagged and susceptible to damage, hot scissors are designed to seal your ends and lock in moisture, added Musayev. "More moisture means more shine, volume and elasticity."

The two stylists say this style of haircut is a great fix for dryness and split ends. And, stressed Abramov, it also works well  for those who can't make it to the salon every six weeks as the hot scissors ensure that your haircut lasts longer.

The manual temperature control allows the stylist to adjust the heat depending on hair texture and damage. Coarser, more damaged hair requires slightly higher temperatures than thin, healthier hair. Additionally, clients actually report not noticing the heat, unlike other hot tools that tend to have a burning feel.

NUMI Nuriel Abramov Salon is at 99 Purchase St., (914) 921-6864, www.numisalon.com/.
