Through a partnership between the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, Westchester Community College Foundation and national Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Mount Vernon residents between the ages of 15 and 17 will have the opportunity to learn and earn a stipend during a six week skills training program.
Teenagers who participate in the entrepreneurship program will learn basic accounting, marketing and presentation skills. A positive work ethic and behavior will be promoted and participants will be exposed to daily business operations, field trips and guest speakers.
The program is designed to develop workplace skills in Mount Vernon teenagers before they graduate from high school. Students will learn the fundamentals of managing a small business, which can translate to success down the road.
All applications are due by Wednesday. Applications can be obtained at the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau office at City Hall or online.
